Greater Chennai Police claimed to have dismantled a prostitution ring and arrested three people, including a woman, at an apartment in Ashok Nagar on Wednesday.
As directed by Chennai Police Commissioner Shankar Jiwal, the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Unit (ITPU) in the city has been taking strict action against those who approach young women arriving in the city. looking for work posing as private agents. companies and then force them into prostitution.
According to a notice on Wednesday, the ITPU team arrived in Ashok Nagar and surveyed an apartment on Fourth Avenue. They raided the house and rescued a woman.
Those arrested were identified as Bijur Rahman (33) from Sultanpet, Puducherry, S Lingadurai (33) from KK Nagar, Chennai, and To Kensee Diana (34) from Guindy, Chennai. They were subsequently brought before the courts. The victim was sent to the government shelter for women.
