Child dies after being pulled from a fire inside a Melbourne public housing building

A child has died after fire engulfed a public housing block in Fitzroy North, Melbourne, on Saturday.

Emergency crews were called to an apartment block on the corner of Clauscen and Nicholson Streets just after noon today where they were confronted by the blaze.

A young child was pulled from the burning building and rushed to hospital in a serious condition where he later tragically died.
