A child has died after fire engulfed a public housing block in Fitzroy North, Melbourne, on Saturday.
Emergency crews were called to an apartment block on the corner of Clauscen and Nicholson Streets just after noon today where they were confronted by the blaze.
A young child was pulled from the burning building and rushed to hospital in a serious condition where he later tragically died.

Fire crews also used a ladder to rescue a man who was reportedly hanging from a window.
All other residents were evacuated safely and are accounted for, police said.
A crime scene has been established and detectives from the Arson Squad are investigating the circumstances surrounding the blaze.
