China is trying to ‘lead the world and set its mark’ by creating artificial sun

The Australian’s Media Writer Sophie Elsworth says China is attempting to “lead the way” with the technology used to create an ‘artificial sun’.

It comes as scientists in China have created an ‘artificial sun’, and the experiment saw it run for 20 minutes at 70 million degrees.

“I think the world will be watching on to see what China is experimenting with here; obviously, they are trying to lead the way with this technology,” Ms Elsworth told Sky News host Cory Bernardi.

“But let’s not forget, this type of technology can take decades to develop.

“So, time will tell on what unfolds here, but I think a lot of other countries around the world will be watching China very closely.”
