Drivers on the M6 faced traffic woes on Christmas Eve after a crash brought cars to a halt. The incident happened on the M6 northbound between junctions J32 and J33.
Inrix, the traffic monitoring service, said earlier this afternoon: “All traffic being temporarily held and queueing traffic due to accident on M6 Northbound between J32 M55 (Broughton Interchange) and J33 A6 Preston Lancaster Road (Lancaster South / Garstang)”. Traffic was later released, but delays remained for several hours, as multiple lanes remained closed. Inrix wrote at approximately 5.30pm: “Long delays and partially blocked due to accident on M6 Northbound between J32 M55 (Broughton Interchange) and J33 A6 Preston Lancaster Road (Lancaster South / Garstang).” National Highways said the delays were due to an “overturned vehicle” on lane one.
