CNN anchor left red-faced as she’s forced to correct Trump breaking news

CNN’s Anderson Cooper made a comeback on screen with Kaitlan Collins, who was discussing President Donald Trump’s initial announcement of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel just moments before the two nations agreed to it.

The broadcaster expressed skepticism about whether the ceasefire would actually happen, only to be proven wrong live on air when Anderson confirmed that the feuding countries had indeed reached an agreement.

Kaitlan shared, “We’re hearing incredibly optimistic views coming out of the White House, as far as how long this can hold and what this is going to look like. That obviously still remains to be seen on the implementation side of this, and waiting to see if the firing does stop, and if Iran and Israel both agree to this because speaking of the fluidity of the situation it was just 24 hours ago, that President Trump himself was a regime change in Iran was a possibility.

As she pondered whether the ceasefire would “hold for the next few hours,” Anderson interjected, “I’ve just been given word that according to a diplomat who briefed CNN, Iran has agreed to the ceasefire.”

However, just hours later, reports emerged that Iran had violated the ceasefire – a claim they deny.

Anderson went on to say, “This is significant, I just want to learn some more information about that, and if that is the case, that is incredibly significant because we were waiting, we had not heard from Iran.”

“We had not heard from Israel, all we were going on so far has been the President’s social media posts, which were some two hours ago. So again, that is the first indication that we have that Iran has agreed to this,” the newsreader added.

However, within less than three hours of Trump declaring the ceasefire active, the agreement seemed to unravel when Israel reported missile launches from Iran into its territory.

Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, accused Iran of “completely violating” their accord. This followed the disclosure that Trump secured the deal via direct discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday.

Concurrently, Trump’s team, including Vice President JD Vance, was engaging with Tehran. Iranian state television relayed a denial from their military that it had targeted Israel with missiles, casting doubt mere hours after the ceasefire was supposed to take effect.

In an act of retribution for Donald Trump’s strikes earlier in the week, Iran initiated missile attacks against several U.S. airbases. Their counterattack was proudly announced on their state TV, described as “a mighty and successful response by the armed forces of Iran to America’s aggression.”

Right before the blasts echoed, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian took to X, stating, “We neither initiated the war nor seeking it. But we will not leave invasion to the great Iran without answer.”

US President Trump later downplayed the severity of the attack, labeling it “very weak” in a post on the TruthSocial platform. He expressed gratitude to the Iranian regime for providing advance warning of the strike, stating that this “made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured”.
