CNN anchor Abby Phillip seemed shocked as she interrupted the broadcast to confirm an unexpected accomplishment by Donald Trump.
She conceded, “Trump has… succeeded. He has shut the border down, there are no border crossings, virtually, happening.” This acknowledgment comes despite a wave of criticism faced by the President for previously failing to follow through on certain pledges.
The CNN statement came on the heels of the Trump administration’s announcement that they had deported more than 38,000 Mexicans in his second term. Only two weeks ago, Abby had compiled a list dubbed the “100 lies” spoken by Trump during his first 100 days in office, which included pronouncements about groceries, inflation, political figures, trade specifics and aspects of war, among other topics.

Phillip also criticized Trump for his purported failures across a range of issues – from aid to Europe, to dealings with Ukraine and various immigration-related matters.
The host listed, “Hostages, world peace, South Korea, Japan, China, the E.U., Canada, NATO, Germany, Iran, ISIS, the Taliban, the Panama Canal, banks, the ocean, wildfires, L.A., water in L.A., electric cars, coal, gold medallists, autism, fentanyl, education, the media, COVID, the 2020 election, votes, voting, mail-in voting, youth voting, Wisconsin voting, voter fraud, polls, crowd sizes.”
She then added that he’d also lied about “January 6th, the rioters, the investigation, the weapons, Nancy Pelosi, air traffic controllers, federal workers, Social Security” and even “condoms.”
One viewer took to social media to comment on Abby’s reluctant admission that Trump had indeed kept his promise about border crossings. “You can tell this was really difficult for CNN’s Abby Phillip to admit,” they wrote.
“You can hear the gulp as she chokes on the sentence! It’s tough to admit when you have been wrong but I give her props for her truth telling now!” another viewer chimed in.
A third viewer suggested that there might be video footage from the Biden administration of Abby claiming the border “needed an act of Congress to be closed.” A fourth asked, “You mean the border crossings that were just in our imaginations during the Biden years? ? ? ?”
