So, of course, when Team Australia’s massive delegation leisurely strolled from the Celtic knot stage to their seats, it makes sense that volunteers and stressed-out workers with headsets tried to shuffle them along.
One athlete who was clearly unbothered by this was weightlifter Rory Scott, who stopped outside the royal box to take a selfie (despite event staff, as seen in the background, signalling for him to move along).
“Me and da King,” was Scott’s cheeky message, shared on his Instagram Story during the opening ceremony. If you squint, you can see King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Prince Edward and the United Kingdom’s new prime minister, Andy Burnham, behind him.
