Days before the Karnataka Assembly elections, Congress on Sunday appointed BN Chandrappa as acting chairman of his state unit.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed Chandrappa as acting chairman of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, according to a party statement.
The Karnataka unit is headed by DK Shivakumar.
Chandrappa’s appointment comes after Karnataka Congress Acting President R Dhruvanarayana passed away last month.
Congress has so far declared 142 candidates for the polls.

Elections for the 224-member assembly will be held on May 10, with results to be announced on May 13.
