Covid-19: 5417 cases as numbers continue to fall, 35 deaths

5,417 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in New Zealand over the past week.

The numbers cover the week of Monday, July 3 to Sunday, July 9.

The number of cases continues to fall, with the latest numbers coming after 6,578 cases were reported the previous week.

As of midnight Sunday there were 184 people in the hospital with the virus.

Three people were in an intensive care unit at midnight Sunday.

Thirty-five more people with the virus have died.

One was 30 years old, two were 40 years old, one was 50 years old, five were 60 years old, four were 70 years old, 14 were 80 years old, and eight were over 90 years old.

Seventeen were men and 18 women.

Of the 35 deaths reported today, 11 were from the Auckland region, five were from Northland, four were from the Bay of Plenty, three were from Waikato, Nelson Marlborough and the Southern District, two were from the Wellington and Canterbury region, and one each was from Taranaki and the MidCentral District.

The total number of deaths confirmed as attributable to Covid-19, either as an underlying cause of death or a contributing factor, is 3,159.
