Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has warned cases will rise further after today’s high number of local infections.
“Numbers will go up. It is not something to be celebrated but we are working as hard as we can to shape that trend. They are going to go up, but we can all, in the choices we make, limit the amount by which they go up,” he said.
“We’re not going to be able to drive these cases down to zero. That was the health advice. That was a reachable goal for a long time but then it spread so far and wide that it becomes impossible.
“What is possible though and I say this to all of you, it is possible for us to have less cases rather than more.”
