TOKYO – Artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and other cutting-edge technologies will be crucial to prevent future conflicts in the Taiwan Straits and other global hotspots, says a senior British military official who predicted Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
General Jim Hockenhull, commander of Britain’s armed forces Strategic Command, told Nikkei Asia that preventing any invasion of Taiwan by China, which claims the democracy island as its territory, would depend on advanced military capabilities that go beyond ships, tanks or aircraft.
