Dangerous teen races at 98mph past by a primary school – 68mph over the limit

A teenager has been banned after being clocked racing at 98mph near a primary school – a staggering 68mph over the road’s limit. Crazed motorist Musa Rafiq, 19, of Worcester, in the West Midlands, was convicted of dangerous driving by JPs at Worcester Magistrates Court.

The court heard he raced along the A4103 in Leigh Sinton, Worcestershire, on 20 February, “just metres away,” police said, from Leigh & Bransford Primary School. Rafiq was disqualified from driving for 18 months and ordered to undertake 200 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £114 victim surcharge.

The road where his speeding offence was committed is a residential area with a history of collisions.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “We are committed to bringing those road users who think they are above the law to justice and we hope this serves as a warning to others of the consequences of their actions if they chose to act so recklessly.”

Councillor Chris McSweeney, who represents the Leigh Sinton area for Worcestershire County Council, said he would have “personally liked a longer driving ban” for the offender.

He added: “This is extremely excessive speed in a 30mph limit, which is near a school where people are walking their children to school.

“This is an issue in Leigh Sinton with general road safety, but to have something of this level of danger… clearly, this is an extreme incident.

“This sort of thing is completely unacceptable and we need the police and the courts to make a point of that.”

West Mercia Police said: “Musa Rafiq, age 19, of Canterbury Road, Worcester, was convicted at Worcester Magistrates Court for Dangerous Driving after he was caught speeding on the A4103, Leigh Sinton Worcestershire on 20th February 2026.

“Following a full investigation, the case was heard at Worcester Magistrates Court last week, where Mr Rafiq was disqualified from driving for 18 months and ordered to undertake unpaid work for 200 hours, in addition he was also ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £114 victim surcharge.

“The area in which the speeding offence was committed is a residential area, with a history of collisions with a local primary school just metres away from where Mr Rafiq committed the offence.”
