An unlikely star of Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris this week is none other than 9-year-old North West whose sophisticated looks have been making headlines and going viral.
As the daughter of two of the world’s most famous people—Kim Kardashian and Kanye West—North West was always going to be somewhat in the spotlight—but should a pre-teen be followed by paparazzi at fashion week?
Fans seem to be fairly divided on the subject, prompting a debate around fame and whether it is appropriate for photographers to follow a child around as if she were an adult celebrity.
On the other hand, the tween is being praised for her outfits and attitude as she mingles with the fashion elite in Paris.
“North West is definitely Kanye’s child,” reads one viral tweet, which features a clip of North West leaving an event through a sea of paparazzi.
In the footage, North West is seen walking to a car with Ryan Romulus the daughter of Kim Kardashian‘s friend, Tracy Romulus.
As they were being photographed, the child asked the photographers: “Why do you have to wait for us all the time?”
Then one was heard responding, in what could be considered a condescending tone: “Because you’re so famous. We love you, North!”
The clip sparked a debate about famous children being photographed in public, with one fan tweeting: “She’s right this s*** is so weird.”
While another added: “I personally don’t think it’s healthy for this little girl to be thrust in the limelight like this. I feel bad for her. But then again who am I to talk, do I own a 9 yrs old or even have a genius father who was unfortunately laid with a fame junkie mom.”

While another wrote: “This is not it. Let her be a kid. She’s dressed like a 20 year old woman. like tf….Shud be home playing and being a kid not this mess…”
Despite the debate around North West’s fashion week presence and her being hounded by paparazzi, many fans are enjoying witnessing the 9-year-old becoming a fashion icon at such a young age.
One photo of her sitting front row at the Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2022-2023 show has gone viral, with one comment reading: “Definitely a style icon already.”

This fashion week is far from North West’s first foray into the world of fashion—she was front row at Balenciaga and Givenchy shows with her parents in 2014 aged just 15 months old.
