Bungie
A while back, Bungie scrapped the idea of bringing back Crota’s End as a repeat raid, given that it was smaller than the others they hadn’t done yet. And yet here it is, pre-Wrath of the Machine, and let’s just say Destiny 2 has made up for claims that it was just one oversized dungeon.
Yesterday the raid race for the release of Crota’s End took place and, surprisingly, Clan Elysium. won for the fourth time in a biting finish. But outside of the race, everyone quickly realized that the competition mode Bungie had created here, plus the actual mechanical changes in the raid itself, had created the kind of brutally difficult offering many challenge seekers had come to expect. see.
Do you want an example of how difficult this was than the Root of Nightmares contest mode, the Lightfall raid?
That’s wild. We haven’t regressed to the 24-hour completion times on Last Wish, the era where everyone was incredibly under-leveled, but we’re certainly in new territory for the last few raids we’ve returned to. Even the people who always complain that everything in Destiny is too easy, even the hardest raids, seem pleased that this was done right (looking at you, 4x champion Salt).
Of course, this will not last long. I’ve already seen someone post about how they controlled Crota himself with two men in the competition, so strategies will evolve. And once the raid goes into “normal” mode, it won’t be anywhere near this level of difficulty, as playing during these racing periods is less like swinging with a weighted bat and more like trying to swing a tree trunk. , especially in this case.
Another change was that everyone who beat the challenge mode raid during the race got the new Exotic Necrochasm, as a guarantee, and people are now farming the catalyst as well. How strong that weapon is compared to, say, Conditional Finality remains to be seen, which may be Destiny 2’s best RoN raid weapon, but will hopefully be better than the underpowered version that initially released in Destiny 1.

Bungie
As for future repeat raids, we just don’t know where Bungie will go from now on. They have confirmed that after Final Shape, there will still be two new dungeons. They have not confirmed in any way if they will continue to carry out repeat raids. There’s only one left, Wrath of the Machine, but that requires rebuilding an entirely new enemy type in D2, Splicer Fallen, plus all the other elaborate changes they make to ensure Destiny 2’s sandbox and the old raid mesh well together, and even so. poses a challenge. Actual unchanged D1 raids would currently be a joke without Bungie’s mechanical improvements.
So, go out there and hit that wall. Otherwise, the normal raid will be here soon.
