‘Do not eat’ warning issued for Morrisons, Tesco and Waitrose shoppers

A number of product recalls have been issued for shoppers at Morrisons, Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s recently. Products are recalled due to health and safety risks, often because they could contain something harmful or there has been cross-contamination. Shoppers at these major British supermarkets have been told to look out for these items in their cupboards, and to return them immediately if they discover they are affected.

There are multiple ways to determine if you have bought a product that has been recalled. They may have a matching code, or there might be products with specific ‘best before’ dates that are affected. These recalls are issued by the UK’s Food Standards Agency, which explains why products have been pulled from shelves, and what action customers should take if they have already purchased them. It has recently issued several “do not eat” warnings for shoppers at multiple UK supermarkets after a number of recalls.

Morrisons

Morrisons recently issued a recall for Morrisons Savers Cashews due to the possibility of glass contamination. The 125g packs that are affected will have ‘best before’ dates of August 9 2026, September 6 2026, September 26 2026, September 28 2026, and October 9, 2026.

The Food Standards Agency advises customers not to consume this product and to return it to their nearest Morrisons store for a full refund.

“Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling it,” it says in a recent notice. “These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought it.”

Tesco and Sainsbury’s

A recall has been issued for a popular sauce sold at Tesco and Sainsbury’s stores across the UK. The Food Standards Authority says the product could contain pieces of metal, so it is unsafe for consumption.

Fox’s Burton’s Companies (FBC) UK is recalling Arran Fine Foods Caramelised Red Onion Chutney. The recall affects the following batches:

Waitrose

Waitrose recently recalled its Waitrose & Partners 4 Richly Fruited Hot Cross Buns as they may contain barley, which is not stated on the label. That makes them a health risk for anyone wth allergies.

The affected products would have a ‘best before’ date of June 6. The FCA said: “Waitrose & Partners are recalling the above product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

“These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

“If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to barley do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. No receipt required.”
