Drag queen Trinity the Tuck reveals she was terrorized by a ‘haunted mirror’

Buying a smart mirror turned into a scary experience for the drag queen (Picture: ITV/ Metro.uk)

Trinity the Tuck is easily one of the most popular drag queens to come from RuPaul’s Drag Race.

But even drag queens rely on technology, especially when it comes to finding the perfect lighting to beat their mugs (do their makeup, for the unititiated) or lip-lsynch to iconic Britney tunes.

We chatted to the RPDR star about ‘growing a tail’ on TV, getting her dog excited and haunted mirrors.

You’ve gone from lip-synching to victory in Drag Race All Stars to singing on the new series of Karaoke Club: Drag Edition. What’s your ultimate tip for using a karaoke machine?

Let’s be real – I’m not a vocalist. The number one thing is to pick a song you can have fun with.

I’d choose something classic like MC Hammer’s U Can’t Touch This or Britney Spears. Who doesn’t love to sing Britney Spears?

What’s your favourite brand for making and listening to music?

When I’m recording I love to use noise-cancelling Bose headphones, in-ear buds when I’m travelling and sleeping on planes and over-ears for listening to music.

I just got a new Nissan Kicks car that has a Bose speaker system I’m excited about.

Have you ever had a tech fail while filming?

When we were filming Drag Race, I was lip-synching to a song. For some reason, my mic pack was left in when it shouldn’t have been and the pack just fell out of nowhere and the mic with the wire was just dangling from me.

I couldn’t stop performing because it was part of the show so I just had to go with it for the whole performance. It looked like I had a tail.

You’re a pageant queen. Any beauty gadgets you swear by?

A high-tech mirror is a must-have for any drag-queen

I have a fabulous Riki portable light-up LED mirror. You can control the warmth or coolness of the light and the brightness. I travel with it everywhere. It’s kind of pricey but totally worth it.

What’s been your most extravagant tech purchase?

I literally just purchased a new iMac desktop computer. That was expensive.
I want to use it to film and photograph myself for projects.

I’ve bought tons of lights and my next big purchase will be a really good camera, something that will shoot in 4K.

Trinity’s bulldog Ludo is crazy about her hoverboard

What was your favourite gadget growing up?

I played with my sister’s Barbies but I also loved remote-control cars. I also own one of those hoverboards – my bulldog, Ludo, loves to jump at me when I’m spinning on it.

What retro tech would you love to see make a comeback?

I want an old Easy-Bake Oven. It would probably burst into flames, though.

What’s been your most disappointing tech purchase?

I got a light-up mirror that you can connect with Bluetooth to shave in the shower. After a couple of months, it just stopped recharging.

Then it got possessed by a ghost. I’m not kidding.

One night, after six months of not working, it crashed down from the wall and at, like, three o’clock in the morning, it started making a noise and lighting up. After that it wouldn’t work.

I threw that mirror outside right then!
