Dustin Poirier earned a second-round knockout over Conor McGregor in the second round of UFC 257’s main event on Saturday night.
McGregor got the better of Poirier back on Sept. 27, 2014 when they met as rising stars in UFC 178. Poirier was knocked out in less than two minutes in that bout.

This time, Poirier entered as a +250 underdog and McGregor predicted another first-round finish. But Poirier landed a series of blows to McGregor’s face, knocking down the former champion and bringing an end to the fight.

With Saturday’s win, Poirier — who entered as the second-ranked contender in the weight class — puts himself in prime position to compete for a lightweight division title in the near future.
More to come.
