Eastern Libya ratifies maritime agreement with Turkey

“Despite the reaction from the Greek Foreign Ministry, the message from the Commission’s leadership has been only lukewarm so far. There have been many words of support, but no warning to Libya that tough measures will follow if it doesn’t immediately revoke its unlawful decision. This decision infringes upon Greece’s sovereign rights and bolsters Ankara’s illegal and revisionist claims to the ‘Blue Homeland’ in the Aegean and the eastern Mediterranean. … Nor should we forget Libya’s oil and natural gas reserves, which Europe urgently needs in these times of energy crisis. … Athens will have a hard time finding allies to exert pressure on Libya.”
