EasyJet has cancelled all flights from a major UK airport, disrupting travel plans for British tourists heading to six popular holiday destinations. The budget airline said it would withdraw its services from Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) next January to “focus on maintaining and developing” its “most popular” routes.
The announcement means EasyJet will stop operating all six of its routes from Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) on 5 January 2027, ending direct flights from the airport to Barcelona, Paris, Belfast, Malaga, Mallorca and Geneva. Passengers who regularly use these services will need to either travel from another airport or choose a different airline after that date.
For customers who have already booked flights scheduled to depart after 5 January 2027, EasyJet said they will be given a choice of a free transfer to a flight from an alternative airport or a full refund.
However, some uncertainty remains over flights scheduled before the closure date. EasyJet has not confirmed whether all flights currently listed from Leeds Bradford Airport will continue to operate as planned until January 2027.
The airline’s website appears to indicate that some routes may end earlier than others. For example, no flights to Geneva were shown as available from Leeds Bradford, while services to Malaga and Mallorca appeared to stop after November 2026.
It means that certain routes could be phased out ahead of the airport’s full withdrawal, although EasyJet has yet to formally confirm any changes to its schedule.
Flights to Barcelona, Paris and Belfast still appeared to be available until January.
An EasyJet spokesperson said: “Following a review of our routes from Leeds Bradford Airport, we have made the decision to no longer operate flights from the airport after 5 January.
“Our focus is on maintaining and developing routes which prove most popular with customers.”
“We have contacted customers with bookings beyond this date to provide them with advance notice and inform them of their options, including a free transfer to flights from an alternative airport or a refund, and we are very sorry for the inconvenience caused.
“We value the relationship we have built with Leeds Bradford Airport and we always keep options for our network under review, with the aim of providing more choice and connectivity where we see demand.”
