Elliot Page shares a shirtless photo to celebrate the ‘joy I feel in my body’ now

“I’m so grateful for what gender-affirming attention has allowed me,” the actor wrote on Instagram.

The 36-year-old Oscar nominee shared a shirtless photo on instagram on Wednesday and opened up about past struggles with his body.

“Dysphoria used to be especially common in the summer. No layers, just a t-shirt, or layers and so sweaty, constantly looking down, readjusting my oversized t-shirt,” Page began in the caption. “It feels so fucking good to soak in the sun right now.”

“I never thought that I could experience this, the joy that I feel in my body,” continued the actor, whose memory Page comes out June 6. “I am so grateful for what gender affirming care has allowed me and look forward to sharing more of my journey soon. #transjoy.”

Page publicly came out as transgender in December 2020. Last year, he said he in Late Night with Seth Meyers that felt an “extraordinary… degree of joy” and “presence” after coming out of the closet.

“I feel in a way that I never really thought possible for a long, long time,” he said at the time. “So that’s really what I’m focusing on and embracing the most. But of course, the moments can be overwhelming.”

Page said we all deal with “expectations, kind of limits and restrictions” in everyday life, and there’s an “obsession” about “how we’re supposed to live our lives.”

The actor added: “To me, it would be very special if we could all connect and talk about how similar we are in all of our journeys.”

He umbrella academy star also explained that “everything” felt easier: “It’s a beautiful thing to experience now. Because most of the time my life was just trying to move on, so I was able to embrace the experience as much as I do now. I think it has helped me.” done better in many facets. Earlier this year, Page revealed the cover of his next bookwhich shows a simple portrait photo of the actor posing in a white tank top, blue jeans and a necklace.

“Writing a book has come up a few times over the years, but it never felt right and frankly didn’t feel possible,” Page wrote on Instagram at the time. “I could barely sit still, let alone concentrate long enough to complete such a task.”

“I can finally be with myself, in this body,” he said. “So, I’ve written a book about my story.”
