Ethylene prices remain stable in Asia

Despite bearish energy stocks, ethylene prices remained stable in Asia on Wednesday.

An industry source in Asia informed a Polymerupdate team member: “Buying sentiments were reported to be muted in the Asian region.”

Southeast Asia CFR ethylene prices on Wednesday were assessed at levels of $895-905/mt, stable from Tuesday’s assessed levels.

Northeast Asia CFR ethylene prices on Wednesday were assessed at $885-895/mt levels, unchanged from Tuesday.

In plant news, Petronas Chemicals Olefins has carried out an unplanned shutdown at the cracker. The exact reason or duration of the closure could not be determined. Located in Kerteh, Malaysia, the cracker has an ethylene production capacity of 600,000 mt/year.
