Indian-origin British golfer Aaron Rai continued his strong 2026 season with a runner-up finish on Sunday at the US$9 million BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club in England.
The 2026 PGA Championship winner posted rounds of 66-69-72-66 to finish at 15-under 273, two shots behind American J.J. Spaun, who won the U.S. Open earlier this year.
The result added another strong finish to Rai’s DP World Tour campaign. In six starts this season, the 31-year-old has made four cuts, with a victory and a runner-up finish helping him climb to a remarkable fourth in the season rankings.
Rai will next be among the headline names at the US$4 million DP World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club from October 15-18.
The field in Delhi includes Masters winners – Rory McIlroy, Patrick Reed, Bubba Watson, defending champion Tommy Fleetwood and 2026 Open champion Ryan Fox. Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, Luke Donald and Viktor Hovland are also set to return, while Min Woo Lee will make his tournament debut.
Shubhankar Sharma and Anirban Lahiri are among the leading Indian players confirmed.
Launched in 2025, the co-sanctioned DP World Tour-PGTI event offers the largest prize fund for a golf tournament staged in India and is the eighth of nine events in the Tour’s Back 9.
