Excise Policy Case BJP’s Desperate Attempt To Smear AAP: Kejriwal

The excise policy case is a desperate attempt by the BJP to “slander an honest party like the AAP,” Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday.

His comments came after a Delhi court on Saturday granted bail to two defendants in a money laundering case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the now removed Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.

The court said that the evidence against the defendants, Rajesh Joshi and Gautam Malhotra, was not sufficient for the case against them to be considered prima facie “genuine”.

In a tweet, Kejriwal said: “The whole liquor scam is fake. We were saying it from the beginning. Now even the courts have started saying it. It’s a desperate move by the BJP to smear an honest party like the AAP.”

Reacting to the court order, the AAP had said on Saturday that it proved the entire case “false” and called on the BJP to apologize for making false accusations.

The BJP, however, accused the top AAP leadership of presenting a “twisted and misleading” reference to the court order and demanded that legal proceedings be instituted against them.
