Premier Daniel Andrews announced that on 6pm this Friday, October 29, a raft of restrictions would be lifted for the fully vaccinated, including the ban on travel between Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Indoor venues including retail, gyms, cinemas and entertainment venues, will reopen with density limits.
Face-to-face learning for school students will be completed by November 1.
Masks will also not be required outdoors, and by the end of next month, almost all the current COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted – as long as you’re vaccinated.
“Two doses or you’re not getting in. Two doses or you’re not going to work,” Mr Andrews said.
He said he was unable to confirm when the vaccine requirements would end, but it could last into next year.
“That vaccinated economy is here to stay,” he said.
Mr Andrews said by the end of next month, he anticipated there being no crowd or density limits around the state, calling for 80,000 cricket fans to attend the Boxing Day Test.
But limits will still be in place for the Melbourne Cup next Tuesday, November 2.
Up to 10,000 race fans will be permitted to attend the Flemington race track.
No crowds at all were allowed at the event last year.
Victoria recorded 1935 new cases of coronavirus and 11 additional deaths yesterday.
