Facelifted MG ZS Hybrid+ Goes on Sale in the United Kingdom

Chinese-owned MG has announced pricing information for the “all-new MG ZS Hybrid+” in the British marque’s home market. Actually a mid-cycle refresh, the comprehensively enhanced 2025 model starts at £21,995 OTR.

The aforementioned on-the-road starting price converts to €26,100 or $28,985 at current exchange rates, which is pretty good value for what you’re getting. From European automakers, the closest rival would be Dacia‘s truly all-new Duster with the hybrid setup. Unfortunately, the Renault-controlled automaker from Romania hasn’t finalized the UK pricing information for the 2024 model.

Arriving in UK showrooms beginning in October 2024, the ZS Hybrid+ is available in two distinct flavors: SE and Trophy. As you might have guessed by now, the latter grade comes with more standard goodies, therefore leveling up to £24,495 at launch. Regardless of which floats your boat more, MG covers the ZS Hybrid+ for 7 years or 80,000 miles (128,745 kilometers), whichever of the two comes first.

Represented by a network of more than 160 dealers, MG Motor UK further notes that both grades come with 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment with live services and satellite navigation, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, automatic headlights, LEDs all around, keyless entry, rain-sensing wipers, rear parking sensors, and – of course – a rearview camera. That’s not all, though, because MG Pilot sweetens the deal with driver assistance tech.

Think forward collision warning, traffic jam assist, active emergency braking with pedestrian and bicycle detection, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, plus blind spot detection. Building on the styling cues of the pre-facelift model, the revised ZS Hybrid+ gets even better in Trophy specification. What does the £2,500 higher price add over the well-equipped base trim?

It all starts with nicer wheels, along with faux leather, a 360-degree camera system, an electrically-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, heated front seats, along with a heated steering wheel. The final upgrade over the entry-level grade is rear privacy glass.

Under the skin, the ZS Hybrid+ combines a 1.5-liter gasoli… uhm, petrol engine with a three-speed automatic, a traction motor, a generator, plus a battery pack. Exclusively front-wheel drive, the subcompact crossover utility vehicle is rated at 196 metric ponies combined, meaning 193 mechanical horsepower. The internal combustion side of this hybrid powertrain is good for 102 ps (100 hp), whereas the traction motor is rated at 136 ps (134 hp). Pretty good numbers, indeed!

Because the high-voltage battery is rated at 1.83 kilowatt hours, don’t expect much driving range on a full charge. On the other hand, MG highlights that WLTP combined fuel economy is 55.4 miles to the gallon, which converts to 46.1 miles per gallon in the US market and 5.1 liters per 100 clicks in the rest of Europe.

The roomier yet less powerful Dacia Jogger Expression TCe 140 Hybrid, by comparison, is listed with a combined rating of 58.9 mpg UK, 49.0 mpg US, or 4.8 l/100 km. At press time, said hybrid wagon kicks off at £22,995.
