Fighters Protesting In Streets Tarnish India’s Image, Equals Indiscipline: IOA Chairman PT Usha

Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha said on Thursday that wrestlers protesting in the streets are unruly and tarnishing the image of the country.

“Wrestlers organizing protests in the streets equals indiscipline. It is tarnishing the image of India,” Usha told reporters after the IOA Executive Committee meeting.

The IOA also instituted an ad-hoc panel of three members, including former fencer Suma Shirur, the head of the Wushu Association of India, Bhupendra Singh Bajwa, and headed by a yet-to-be-appointed retired high court judge, to handle WFI affairs. until a new body is chosen.

The IOA and the government managed to placate the fighters with guarantees to investigate their accusations against Sharan and the WFI after the protest first broke out in January.
