Flights at Heathrow Airport were temporarily disrupted on Thursday afternoon after a grass fire erupted near one of the runways.
London Fire Brigade firefighters were called to the scene to assist the airport’s fire service, with the force saying the fire was put out but it destroyed one hectare of grassland.
The fire was brought under control at 6.07pm, but some flights appeared to be temporarily delayed as a result of the incident.
The situation returned to normal over the course of the evening.
