OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Here are the headlines we’re bringing to you first on Thursday, July 3.
The U.S. House of Representatives cleared a key hurdle in passing President Donald Trump’s tax and spending package early Thursday Morning. The House voted 219-213 to advance the bill to a final round of debate and vote. The final vote was expected later Thursday morning.
Protesters took to the streets near 72nd and Dodge Streets and at Memorial Park Wednesday in opposition to the bill. They pleaded for Nebraska’s three representatives to change their mind. Protestors at 72nd and Dodge carried signs and echoed chants of “no tax cuts for corporations” and “keep funding healthcare.” If the One Big Beautiful Bills passes, experts predict about 8 million Americans could lose their health care coverage over the next 10 years.
