Speaking at Cobblebank Station in Melton South in Melbourne’s outer-west, Premier Daniel Andrews has announced his government will remove four level crossings in the west by 2028 if he is re-elected.
The level crossings listed for removal are Coburns Road, Exford Road and Ferris Road in Melton and Hopkins Road in Truganina.
Andrews has further announced Melton will get a brand new accessible train station, and that in removing the four level crossings, the train stations’ platforms will be extended to allow for nine-carriage trains to run, instead of the current six carriages.
”This is a really important plan, it has been carefully staged and thought through,” he said.
“This is providing security and certainty for so many families.”
