Former Aide Reveals Trump’s ‘Very Disturbing’ Habit With Classified Documents

john boltonwho served as national security adviser to donald trumpHe said he is “pretty sure” that the allegations that his former boss mishandled classified documents are true because he has witnessed it firsthand.

“I think he was kind of a collector of things that he thought he was interested in for one reason or another: clippings, memorabilia, classified documents,” Bolton said. msnbc‘s just psaki on Sunday. “And it was very disturbing.”

Trump last week was accused on 37 counts in the classified documents scandal.

Bolton said he saw a “pattern” in which Trump liked to hide things from intelligence briefings and other meetings.

“It became the practice just to make sure we got them back in as many cases as we could,” he said. “Obviously, we failed in many cases.”

He cited an example of Trump tweeting information about Iran that came from a document he withheld from an intelligence briefing.

“There is absolutely no excuse for that. There is no conceivable reason for that, except that it made him feel good to be able to do it,” she said. “That’s an example, but it’s typical of the mentality, in my opinion.”

Bolton called the allegations “serious” because they put confidential information at risk “making it more likely that a foreign adversary could get their hands on it.”

“That’s why criminal statutes are written as they are, for very prudent reasons,” Bolton said.

Psaki asked Bolton if he would support Trump in 2024 if he won the nomination.

Bolton said he voted for Trump in 2016 but not in 2020, instead writing on behalf of a conservative Republican in Maryland, where he votes.

He said he would do the same in 2024.
