A former employee of a business in Madison is in custody after breaking several car windows outside the building on Friday.
It happened during the morning hours on Wright Street when the man arrived at his former workplace and started smashing car windows with a tire iron.
An on-duty crisis negotiator tried to get the man to cooperate, but he refused, then used the tire iron to hurt himself.
Police say the man also asked officers to shoot him.
An officer used a taser and the man was arrested.
He was taken to a hospital where mental health professionals were consulted.
