NEWS. CHRIS. THANK YOU. TWO PEOPLE ARE RECOVERING AFTER A RABID FOX ATTACKED THEM IN WINSTON-SALEM LAST WEEK. THE FORSYTH COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT IS NOW ISSUING A WARNING TO THE COMMUNITY. KARA PETERS SPOKE WITH SOMEONE WHO WAS IN THAT AREA THE NIGHT OF THOSE ATTACKS. ONE PERSON WAS JUST WALKING IN AN AREA AND THE OTHER PERSON WAS ACTUALLY WORKING IN THE AREA. TWO PEOPLE WERE ATTACKED BY A RABID FOX NEAR THE SIMS RECREATION CENTER, AND THE OLD SALEM COMMUNITY WITHIN MINUTES OF EACH OTHER. LAST THURSDAY, KEYSHAWN FIRKUS SAYS HE WAS VOLUNTEERING AT SIMS REC CENTER THE DAY OF THE ATTACKS. THE LADY CAME IN THERE AND TOLD US THAT SOMEBODY GOT BIT, AND I KNOW EVERYBODY WAS RUSHING OUT TO SEE WHO GOT BIT. AFTER THAT DAY, I WAS I’M REALLY NERVOUS BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW. ANOTHER FOX MIGHT COME OUT OR ANY OTHER THING. UM, BUT STILL, I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT I LOOK OUT, MAKE SURE I DON’T SEE NO FOX AT ALL. LUCKILY, MY STAFF OR I NEVER ENCOUNTERED IT, WHICH IS A BLESSING. UM. UH, A FOX IS CUTE, BUT PROBABLY NOT WHEN IT HAS RABIES. COUNTY LEADERS SAY SO FAR THIS YEAR, FOUR ANIMALS HAVE BEEN TESTED FOR RABIES. ONE FOX, TWO SKUNKS, AND A RACCOON. Forsyth County health officials issue warning after rabid fox attacks two people

And I know everyone was rushing out to see who got bit,” Furches said. “After that day, I was really nervous because you never know — another fox might come out or any other thing. But I just want to make sure that I look out, make sure I don’t see no fox at all.”The Forsyth County Department of Public Health notified businesses nearby of the attack on Tuesday.”Luckily, my staff and I never encountered it, which is a blessing. A fox is cute, but probably not when it has rabies, ” said Lot 63 General Manager Trent Hancock.The health department said the fox was found, euthanized and tested for rabies.
