Cobolli 0-1* Zverev
Zverev is a lucky boy. At ad-Cobolli, his ball clips the top of the net and seems to wiggle a little, changing its mind a couple of times, before eventually flopping onto Cobolli’s side.
Some nice crisp hitting from the 10th seed into either corner, ad-Cobolli again… deuce again as Cobolli tries to go shot-for-shot with Zverev, who just has more power, and nets.
Maybe a little unnerved, Cobolli tries a Hollywood open-stance forehand and drags it into the tramlines. Another break point.
I agree with James — the way to get to Zverev is by moving the big man around as much as possible and not getting caught in pounding rallies, especially not on Zverev’s excellent backhand.
Poor drop shot from Cobolli is punished and then a miscue comes off completely the wrong part of the racket.
Zverev breaks in the first game of the final and the break, as well as the manner of it, will frustrate Cobolli.
