Frenchette Bakery moving to the Whitney Museum

An emblematic place for Frenchette Bakery will open at the Whitney Museum of American Art, replacing the Danny Meyer restaurant Entitledwhich closed at the beginning of the pandemic.

In a statement, the museum said it was “reinventing its food and beverage program” for its ground-floor restaurant.

Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson, owners of the restaurants. frenchie and RockOpened his first Frenchette bakery in TriBeCa in 2020, taking over the former Arcade Bakery. Since then, Frenchette Bakery has made breads, pastries, sandwiches and pizzettes. The menu at the Whitney location will include sweet and savory dishes, breakfast, lunch, takeout and assorted beverages.

The Whitney envisions the new restaurant as a gathering space to connect with visitors to the museum and its surrounding neighborhood, the meatpacking district. The plans are still in the development stage.
