Full list of 11 Lloyds and Halifax banks closing this week

Lloyds Banking Group is set to close 11 branches this week. The group, which owns Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland, will shut 233 branches by the end of 2026, according to the consumer group Which?, as the banking sector continues to digitalise.

Since 2015, the group has closed nearly 1,600 branches across the UK – which is more than any other banking network. Which? further estimates that a total of 6,693 bank branches across the UK closed between January 2015 and January 2026. Lloyds said that despite the decline in branch visits, it is continuing to invest in face-to-face banking, with all existing branches now open to all Lloyds Banking Group customers – so any Lloyds, Halifax or Bank of Scotland customer can use any of its branches.

Defending the strategy, a spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group told MoneyWeek: “With access to one of the biggest branch networks in the UK, customers can now use any of our Lloyds or Halifax branches.

“Alongside other local banking options like our community bankers, the Post Office, PayPoint, plus our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service, we offer our customers more choice and convenience than ever before.”
