Delegates are scheduled to visit the Mughal Gardens, the newly developed waterfront, the Government Arts Emporium, Polo View Market and other key historical sites in the beautiful city.

The G20 Tourism Meeting to be held in Srinagar will conclude with a special tour of all the popular tourist spots in the city for the delegates.

Delegates are scheduled to visit the Mughal Gardens, the newly developed waterfront, the Government Arts Emporium, Polo View Market and other key historical sites in the beautiful city.

To this end, security has been strengthened and forces have been deployed in large numbers, especially on the roads where the envoys would transit.

The forces have been searching vehicles, performing random checks to ensure foolproof cover in the midst of all this.

“Delegates will visit the Mughal Gardens in Srinagar, which are largely based on the Persian architectural style. There they will interact with the flower growers,” the authorities said.

Delegates will also visit the Government Arts Emporium and interact with artisans and see live demonstrations of a variety of motifs, techniques and crafts including rugs, shawls, papier-mâché, sozni and more.

To see the new look of Srinagar under the smart city projects, delegates will visit Jhelum Riverfront, Zero Bridge and Polo View Market.

“At the polo view market, they will interact with local merchants from the first cable and pedestrian free market in Srinagar. Interaction with the local business community and opportunity to explore Kashmiri art, crafts and souvenirs,” an official said.

G20 members are also expected to interact with athletes who will demonstrate Yoga and Wushu for them.

They previously visited Char Chinar, a small island in the middle of Dal Lake, which has four Chinar at its corners, while taking a Shikara ride.

This comes as Jammu & Kashmir Lt. Gen. Manoj Sinha told delegates on Monday that J&K will soon find its place among the world’s top 50 destinations and will be on the travel list of global travelers.

About 60 foreign delegates arrived in Srinagar on Monday for the third meeting of the tourism working group of G20 countries, officials said.

This is the first international meeting to be held in Kashmir after the repeal of Article 370 and the bifurcation of the former state into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, in August 2019.
