G20 Summit: Delhi’s tourism department to host dance festival

In its preparations for the upcoming G20 summit, Delhi’s tourism department plans to hold a statewide dance festival featuring celebrities, officials have said.

“To boost tourism and entertain the public, foreign delegates before the G20 summit, we plan to hold a dance festival. We are planning to invite different dance groups to this festival. There are plans underway to invite celebrities in the field of dance,” said a senior tourism department official.

The festival will showcase different types of dance forms from states ranging from traditional to contemporary to hip-hop. “Just like there are Bharatanatyam, Kathak and various other dance forms, we actually want to involve celebrities who can perform on stage with their team like Brij Mohan ji used to do…So, we are planning to take this forward,” he said. the official

The organizers have said that the event will not have a competition segment and will be a great opportunity for budding artists and dancers. This festival is to attract tourists, local residents and foreign delegates who will visit the city, they said.

The department also plans to hold children’s drama festivals and workshops in association with Sahitya Kala Academy or other academies during the summer holidays.
