Leaders from the G7 leading economies are meeting at Elmau in the Bavarian Alps in a meeting dominated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and growing fears about recession, food shortages and an energy crisis.
On Sunday, the leaders vowed to counter China through a series of increased global investments, and said they were closing in on agreement to cap the price of oil. The oil cap is intended both to protect consumers and reduce the Kremlin’s ability to raise cash for its war chest.
On Monday, the discussions are expected to focus on core policy areas such as climate, health, gender equality, food security and energy.
