“Imagine if you had met God. If you met God, I imagine you would want to tell everybody about it. But in the Bible, in Matthew, we read Jesus’s instruction to his disciples. It’s very different.
It says in Matthew 17, he sternly ordered the disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah. He sternly, quite harshly, quite strongly said, do not tell them that I am the Son of God.
How bizarre is that? How bizarre is it that we have this good news which is supposed to be a secret? It’s supposed to be something whispered rather than shouted.”
