Police have launched a manhunt after a 17-year-old girl was raped outside a UK railway station. Authorities are appealing for any information about the attack, which happened at Guildford train station at around 7pm on Sunday, January 19, 2025.
British Transport Police have released CCTV images of a man they believe has vital information about the incident. A man approached the teenager and her group of friends as they were nearing the station, before pressuring her to board a train with him.
When she said no, he began making explicit sexual demands, which she also rejected, police said. The perpetrator was then able to isolate the 17-year-old from her friends and carry out the rape.
The teenager eventually broke free from her attacker and ran back to her friends, who were waiting outside the station, according to the force.
BTP Detective Sergeant Nick Thompson said: “The person responsible for this horrific crime targeted a vulnerable victim who was just 17 years old at the time of the attack.
“Specialist officers continue to support her and her family as we follow all lines of enquiry.”
DS Thompson also urged members of the public to contact the police if they have any information that could help to identify the man in the CCTV images.
“We understand that this incident will cause concern among the local community and I am appealing to them directly to help us identify the man in these images,” he said.
“He may have vital information that could assist our investigation, so if you recognise him, please get in touch as soon as possible.”
BTP has called on anyone who can assist the investigation to contact them by texting 6106 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 192 of 24 January 2025.
Reports can also be made anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
