The Uttar Pradesh Police Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested a 26-year-old man on Sunday for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), according to an official statement.
The ATS arrested Mohammad Raees, who was allegedly providing vital information about Indian military establishments to their controllers in Pakistan, after questioning him at his headquarters in Lucknow on Sunday.
The police said that Raees had allegedly sent photographs and information about our Army and its establishments to his officer in Pakistan. Raees also received money in exchange for sending information, police added.

A Gonda native, Mohammad Raees, has been registered under Sections 121-A (Waging, or attempting to make, or being an accessory to making war, against the Government of India) and 123 (Concealing with intent to facilitate design to wage war) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Official Secrets Act, the UP Police said in a statement issued here.
Police said they were looking for Raees’ two friends, Armaan and Salman, who were allegedly involved in espionage.
“Rahees was called to ATS headquarters and questioned about the information he had shared. Initially, he did not give a satisfactory answer, but when questioned at length by the agency, Raees confessed to the crime,” a police officer said.
