GOP governor blasts ‘angry and unhinged’ Trump supporters who heckled Pence

The Governor of New Hampshire chris sununu (R) targeted a group of rioters in his state who were filmed pointing mike pence on the campaign trail for refusing to help donald trump annul the 2020 elections.

“Angry, unhinged Trump supporters? I don’t think anyone is surprised to see it,” Sununu said. CNNby Erin Burnett in an interview on monday.

“I mean, his grassroots supporters tend to be very extreme, very angry. They are very defensive. They will do anything to try to make sure that Trump just gets the nomination and doesn’t have to earn it.”

“Obviously, they are going to use mike pence like a punching bag,” he continued. “Mike Pence stood up for America.”

As Pence walked into an event in New Hampshire on Friday, a group of Trump supporters accosted him, calling him a “traitor” and a “sellout” and demanding: “Why didn’t you uphold the Constitution?”

Sununu praised Pence for “doing the right thing” when Trump pressed him to support his plan to reverse his 2020 election loss.

The former president was charged with four federal crimes last week in connection with his attempted coup. According to the indictment, Trump and his accomplices attempted to pressure Pence into using his ceremonial paper in the January 6, 2021 electoral vote certification to “fraudulently tamper with the election results.”

Pence is no stranger to attacks from supporters of his former running mate, having faced calls to be hanged on January 6 for failing to cave in to Trump’s demands.

He has criticized Trump for past riots and has intensified his disapproval in the wake of the impeachment, accusing the former president and his “crackpot lawyer gang” of trying to get him to “literally reject” electoral votes for him. Joe Biden.

Sununu, a vocal critic of the former president, announced in june he would not run for president in 2024, instead choosing to campaign against Trump.

“The stakes are too high for a packed field to hand the nomination to a candidate who gets just 35% of the vote, and I will help ensure that doesn’t happen,” Sununu said at the time.
