Government will launch 7-day campaign to renovate 75,000 bathrooms

The Uttar Pradesh government announced on Thursday that it would launch a seven-day cleanup campaign to renovate 75,000 pink, public and community toilets in the state as part of the Swachh Bharat (Urban) Mission. The campaign will start on March 24 and end on March 30.

A government spokesman said the campaign is being carried out “to make Uttar Pradesh a cleaner and greener state, as envisioned by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.” “Started a seven-day campaign to renovate 75,000 toilets to provide clean toilets to citizens and improve scores in the ‘Swachh Survekshan 2023. Community, public and pink toilets in urban areas in need of repair or rejuvenation will be identified and rebuilt during the seven days of campaigning,” an official said.

The official further stated that the department conducts various campaigns on a regular basis to keep the urban areas of the state clean. Citizen participation is also ensured in these campaigns, since it is essential for sustainable cleaning.

“We will also involve local people in businesses, government agencies, and community organizations in the cleanup campaign,” the official said.

According to the officials, the main goal of the campaign will be to improve the cleanliness and hygiene of public toilets and improve the state’s ranking in Swachh Survekshan-2023, among others.
