Green power transmission line to be installed in Bundelkhand

To develop a green energy corridor in Bundelkhand, the cabinet on Wednesday approved a project to lay power transmission lines of more than 2000 km and some 20 substations for the evacuation of solar energy from power plants being developed in different Bundelkhand regions.

“In the second phase of the Green Energy Corridor, the project to evacuate about 4,000 MW of renewable energy in the Bundelkhand region has been given the green light. Several solar parks are under construction in the Jhansi, Lalitpur, Jalaun and Chitrakoot regions of the Bundelkhand region with a total capacity of 4000 MW of renewable energy. For the evacuation of this power, the project worth Rs 4,786 crore has been given cabinet clearance,” said Cabinet Minister AK Sharma.

He said the project would get financial assistance from the Center, as well as a loan from a German-based financial institution. The plan is to complete the project in the next three years.

The Council of Ministers also approved a proposal to lay 6,636 km of fiber optic line. “This will help in data management and control of the data network. While 30% of the cost will be borne by the UP government, the Center will provide a subsidy of around Rs 151 crore,” an official said.
