FRANKFURT, Nov 5 (Reuters) – Hamburg airport remained closed on Sunday, authorities stated, as police handled a hostage scenario they are saying probably includes a custody dispute.
The airport closed for all takeoffs and landings on Saturday night after police arrived in giant numbers on the scene to take care of a person who drove via a barrier onto the grounds of the airport with a baby.
The automobile with the 35-year-old man and 4-year-old lady was parked underneath a aircraft, a police spokesperson stated.
“The operation continues. Our negotiators are in touch with the particular person within the automobile,” the police posted on Sunday on the social media platform X.
Police have been speaking via a translator in Turkish, a spokesperson stated.
Police stated the kid’s mom had informed them the daddy had been in touch along with her.
Police wouldn’t verify their earlier statements that the person was armed and had fired pictures.
Hamburg airport authorities stated that 286 flights with round 34,500 passengers had been scheduled for Sunday.
