Health Minister to clarify National Maternity Hospital plans in 10 days’ time

Labour Party calling for full public ownership of new hospital

The Labour Party is calling for the new National Maternity Hospital to be vested in full public ownership.

“It has now become clear that, in order to address all of our ongoing concerns about governance and ownership of the new National Maternity Hospital, both building and site must be owned by the state,” urged Labour’s Senator Ivana Bacik.

The Seanad leader had confirmed to her that Minister Donnelly had agreed to come into the Seanad on Friday week, July 2, to clarify the plans for the future National Maternity Hospital.

Senator Bacik called for an end to the obfuscation tactics currently employed by Government on the new National Maternity Hospital, and said the Government must outline its plans to achieve that for women and their families.

She has called on the Minister for Health to release all correspondence relating to any attempts by the State to purchase the site.
