Homebase opens 3 new garden centres inside The Range – full list

Homebase has announced the opening of three “new and exclusive” garden centres inside The Range superstores.

The DIY and garden retailer has been gradually launching its garden centres throughout this year, with more than 100 sites already open inside The Range superstores across the UK and Ireland. The openings come after Homebase was forced to close down a swathe of its shops after falling into administration in November last year, blaming a decline in consumer confidence and spending post-pandemic for the collapse.

A rescue deal struck with retail group CDS – which owns The Range – saved around 70 Homebase stores and 1,600 hobs, while B&Q took over a further five branches. The former Homebase sites in Altrincham, Basingstoke, Biggleswade, Leamington Spa and Worcester are due to be converted into B&Q stores this spring.

A further four Homebase stores are also due to be transformed into Wickes after the home improvement brand acquired the leases for sites in Dunfermline, Bury St Edmunds, Leeds Moor Allerton and Northampton. These stores are due to reopen later this year under the Wickes brand.

Despite a wave of closures, Homebase isn’t disappearing for good as customers can now shop the brand in its new garden centres inside The Range superstores across the UK and Ireland.

More than 100 of these garden centres have already opened to customers and now three more have been added to the ever-growing list, with new openings based in Frome, in Somerset, Sittingbourne in Kent and Newmarket in West Suffolk.

These openings come ahead of a further 11 garden centres that are due to open inside The Range superstores later this month and in May.

Announcing the three new sites in a post on Facebook, Homebase said: “THREE brand-new & exclusive ‘Garden Centres by Homebase’ have officially opened inside The Range superstores! Say a big hello to Frome, Sittingbourne and Newmarket!

“Each one is packed with premium houseplants, garden must-haves, and all the green-thumb gear you could dream of! But that’s not all… more openings are on the way! Coming this April:
