Homemade Churros with Chocolate Sauce for the weekend

Chocolate is the best dessert in the world. We don’t just crave something sweet, we crave chocolate. There are many different desserts in the world and often they are dipped in, sprinkled with, covered or filled with and just perfect on it’s own. With these Homemade Churros with Chocolate Sauce, you will be doing the dipping of a soft and crunchy doughnut-like churro into chocolate.

The origin of the churro is wide-spread and it can either be from China, Portugal or Spain, but what we do know is that they are always tasty. If you use piping bags on a regular basis, you might have the nozzle attachment to give it that classic look. Remember, when using hot oil, be very careful and make sure that there are no kids around. Finish-off the churros with your cinnamon sugar and you have a classic churro to feast on. For the chocolate sauce, you will mostly be melting ready-made chocolate and add some of your own ingredients to bring out more flavour.

It’s time to bring out the crowd-pleaser dessert of many origins with these Homemade Churros with Chocolate Sauce. Crunchy, crispy and dipped in chocolate, there can be nothing better.

Churros with Chocolate Sauce Recipe

Homemade churros are a classic favorite fried food! 

Ingredients – DOUGH

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 1 cup flour

  • INGREDIENTS – SERVING
  • 4 tbsp sugar

  • 2 tsp cinnamon powder

  • 1 80g slab Aero milk chocolate

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • ½ tsp oil

Method

  • In a saucepan add water, sugar, oil and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  • Add in the flour a little at a time as you keep stirring.
  • Mix until it forms a ball.
  • Put your dough into a piping bag. Heat a deep pot with oil.
  • When the oil is hot, squeeze out strips of dough into the hot oil.
  • Deep fry until cooked and golden brown.
  • Drain oil from churros and allow to stand for a few minutes.
  • Mix sugar and cinnamon and evenly coat the churros.
  • METHOD – CHOCOLATE SAUCE
  • Break up chocolate into pieces and leave in a bowl with half a teaspoon of oil and two tablespoons of milk. Put this bowl over a larger bowl of boiling water and allow it to melt.
  • Serve churros with melted chocolate.
