Homeware store with 330 locations shutting first ever store – open 10 years

Søstrene Grene, a family-owned Danish store, opened its first UK location in Nottingham in 2016.

The shop, dubbed ‘little Ikea’, will close its doors in the Victoria Center for the final time this weekend.

The brand has more than 330 stores across 17 countries, including two stores in the centre of London.

The company was created by sisters Anna and Clara, and focuses on their loves, both practical and creative.

There is limited stock on display in the East Midlands store, with many of the shelves already empty ahead of closure on Sunday, September 13.

A sign in the window tells customers: “We are sorry. Unfortunately, this store will be closing as the landlord is planning a redevelopment of the premises.

“Please note that as we prepare for the closure, some items may no longer be available in the store and many items will be reduced in price.

“The sisters would like to thank all customers for their support over the years.”

Customers have been left gutted by the closure.

One shopper said on Facebook: “That’s so sad. Such a great shop, one of my favourites.”

The closure comes as one of the latest blows to the UK retail industry, as several stores continue to close daily.
