The latest figures show there were 16,344 police recorded knife or sharp instrument offences in 2024-25.

This is the highest recorded by Statista in a series stretching back to 2015-16.

Figures for 2023-24 show there were 15,016 such offences, up from 12,786 in 2022-23, 11,122 in 2021-22 and 10,50 in 2020-21, according to Statista.

The pollster said the increase in knife crime seen in London has happened alongside a general increase in overall crime throughout England and Wales.
